Shout Out!!

Our Story - Chapter 3

There was a loud knock on the door. Cautiously, the two soldiers in green uniforms clutched thier pistols.

The officer placed Bee down gently, and drew his pistol as well. He signalled for the other two to cover him, as he approached the door. Without warning, there was a loud crash, and the door flew open. The officer was thrown back with huge force. Ash and smoke filled the room, and as it cleared, a dark tall figure entered the room.

The officer stared at the figure in horror. 'You.... It can't be!' he held his pistol up, only to find that it had fallen a few feet away from him.

The tall dark figure entered the room and into the sunlight. He was smiling. Behind him, several red uniformed guards entered the room and surrounded them. Two gun shots were fired, and the two green uniformed soldiers fell dead to the ground.

The tall figure walked closer, and as he did, the officer could see his better now. He was much younger than himself, more like a teenager than a grown man, but something was wrong with his expression, as he kept smiling. A black eyepatch covered one eye. The red guards aimed thier guns at the officer, but the tall figure raised his hand. They kept their rifles down.

'3rd Liutenant Alex from the 5th battalion? I thank you for leading us here... And finding her...' he pointed at the lady lying on the bed, still unconcious. Alex grimmaced and clenched his teeth.

'You won't take her.... You bastard..'

As he said that, the tall figure zipped quickly towards Alex and with one powerful kick knocked him on his chin, sending Alex flying into the brick wall. Alex groaned in pain as he laid on the ground, blood gushing from his mouth.

'I... Have to warn... Y.Hong.....' he muttered.

The tall figure let out a laugh. 'Tell him? Tell him what? The dead do not speak, my dear fren! It's over! The Cheng will rule this school and you know it! Why fight us?!'

'Us!? U were never one of them!! We trusted you!!'

The tall figure's smile weakened a little. 'Heh.... It's all the same, isn't it? Loyalty... Frendship.... That's all just part of this big circle called life. This is war, Alex... We don't need frens... We need to stay alive....' he approcahed the fallen Alex, bent down, and with one hand held his chin. He looked him the eyes. 'It's over'

What he didn't expect happened next, was to seeAlex smile. 'What'd you.....' Out of nowhere, a dagger whisked past the tall figure, hitting one of the soldiers in the chest. The soldier let out a cry, and by accident pulled the trigger of his rifle, and shots filled the room.

Alex shouted, 'now!' and the windows burst open, shattering the glass. Four other green uniformed soldiers took aim, and fired. The tall figure jumped back, and rolled over to his left and under a table.

The other red uniformed soldiers took cover, and more shots were exchanged. Alex quickly stood up, and with one swift move knocked the bed over, causing it to tumble over to the left. As Bee was about to hit the ground, he caught her, and dragged her towards safety.

'Cover our backs! We'l head over the forest!'

The soldiers nodded, and provided cover fire as Alex climbed the window and out into the open.

General Hong was getting more and more anxious. Before him, a huge map of the entire UTAR grounds were spred before him. Above it, countless circled areas were crossed out, leaving only three - Westalke, The Cafeteria, and Block B. Around him, several high ranking officials stood staring at the map as well, all contemplating. One of them spoke breaking the silence.

'Pardon me, sire.... But we cannot wait any longer. We are losing precious time trying to find this one person in the middle of battle and.....' Y. Hong stared back at him. 'This... One... Person???'

WIthout warning, he drew a dagger from his boot, crashed into teh officer and held him against the wall, the tip of the dagger just below his throat.

'Sire! Let him go!!' said one of the officials. It was a female officer, much shorter than the rest, but she had an aura of command. Y.Hong drew a long breath, and sigh, letting the offical go. 'I'm... I'm sorry.....'

The lady official put her hand on his shoulder. 'We know you're worried about her.. We all are. But this is not the time to be hasty. Cheng's army is growing each day we spend dwindling in emotions. You know that better than I do.'

'Yes... I know...' and he strolled over to the fallen offical, helping him up. 'Excuse me....' and he left the room, leaving the other officials baffled. One of them came forward and approached the lady official. 'Jessica... Is he going to be alright?'

Jessica smiled. 'He will be. But for now, let's leave him alone for a bit. Young.. What is our status in Block B?'

The official nodded, and approached the table once again. The others followed suit. He clicked a button on the projector screen, and a red blinker appeared on the map. 'We've sent Jing Kiat in.... Though we are not sure what to expect/ Sector B used to be a nuetral terriroty, but ever since Cheng pillaged that area, we have little, or maybe no information at all.'

Another one spoke. 'Yes... But surprisingly, even Cheng's forces have never got too deep into Block B before. It's almost like...'

Jessica cut him off. 'Yes.... It's almost like they are afraid of something.' She walked over to the table, and pointed at the red blinker. The tracking device we placed on Jing Kiat is beginning to fade. The signal there... Something is distruspting it.. But I don't know what.'

Young spoke. 'Heh. Nothing to worry about about though... It's Jing Kiat we're talking about here.'

Jessica smiled. 'Yeah..... I guess you're right. Colonel Bin Li!!'

A middle height officer approached her. The crest of an angel was clearly embedded on his breastpocket. He had a bandaged arm, and wore a mask over his face. He saluted.

Jessica smiled again. 'You don't need to be formal with me, you know.'

Bin Li dropped his hand. 'In the presence of the Secretarial General? I have my manners.' Jessica laughed. 'Either way... Keep an eye on Jing Kiat's signal. The moment it wears off, send in recon. We have to make sure he's ok.'

Bin Li saluted. Jessica stood again. 'The rest of you, back to your positions and maintain highest guard. We don;' know when Cheng will find us. But when he does, I hope we have enough spirit to take him down.'

'Yes madam!'

She walked out of the room, and instead of taking her usual left turn down the stairs, she walked through another small walkway, and at the end of it, arrived at a varendah.

General Y.Hong glanced back at her. His face was expressionless, and he was looking at the great beyond, hard in thought. She put her hand on his shoulder again. Y. Hong turned, then smiled. Then she took her place beside him, and stared at the skies as well.

'That was rash of you back there... You now the council won't' like that.'

Y.Hong looked at the ground, speecheless.

Jessica's expression turn to one of concern. 'It's not your fault.'

Y. Hong still looked at the ground, motionless.

'How long to you plan to be this way?! It's not like you can do anything for her right now! The best thing to do right now to concentrate on what you pledged yourself to do! Cheng is coming.. And we...'

He looked back at her, and smiled. 'I know.... Do you trust me?'

Jessica was about to say something else... But then just stopped, and smiled. 'Of course I do... We all do.'

Y.Hong released his hands from the varendah's bars, took his coat from the nearby chair, and pulled it over his shoulder. 'Then I'm going to find her.'

Jessica's face was red with anger. 'But Yee Hong!'

Y.Hong just smiled, and with that, walked away into the varendah, leaving a speechless Jessica glancing back at him.

Sometimes in life we cannot be the judge of everything. A wrong will not be measured with another right, and a right can not be measured to replace a wrong. Everything we do.... It has to be done because we know it's right.
