Shout Out!!

Chapter 1 - An unfinished story
He looked out the window that night. The usual breeze coming into the room has not been the same recently. He felt it, the change in the wind.

Outside, the moon's white eerie glare beckoned him to leave the room. He grabbed the keys laying at the side of the desk, put on his coat, and left the room of 1394, Westlake Homes. Tonight... It was going to happen.. tonight.

I'm finally writing another story again, for this class obviously. I've been given feedback that hte last story was too long and too overwritten, so I'm going to tone it down a lot, and use simpler sentences. Hope you all enjoy.

The silence of the night surrounded him. He closed his eyes. Things were never like this a year ago, when he just got here. They said, this place was a paradise. They said, this place as the best university in the country. But they didn't say.... it was going to be like this. He clenched his fists tighter, walking slowly past the corridors of the other Westlake homes, its shadows beeming over him like he was about to be swallowed.

He walked on, past the bas station, past Uncle Jason's grocery store, and nearing the Westlake gates. It was at the junction, that he stopped.

He stopped. A lonely silence sweping over him.

'I've been waiting for you.' a voice behind him said.

2079, UTAR. Known as the best University in the country, the combination of quality education and a scenery like no other drew the entrance of tens of thousands of students to the desolate place called Kampar. In a mere 50 years, the small, quiet state boomed into a super metropolis, a large, unstability developed city that catered for the needs of the students in every way - food, lodging, mail, survival, weapons and many many more. Yes... weapons. The world has shifted in 2079, no longer the universal peaceful society known to many. Years ago, a solar storm hit the earth, killing almost 2/3 of the population on earth. Few cities remained intact, and its citizens were the only survivors of the catastrophy. Kampar was one of these cities. It took 50 years, for the survivors to rebuild the city into what it was. But in the process, the power, greed and lust for superiority and power let to massive fights between the students, which were the last remains of humanity. Until one night, a fallen star fell into the earth near the lake, known as Westlake, and everything changed. In one night, some of the residents, mostly students suddenly gained unimaginable powers. Some called it god's intervention, His last message to the people of the world to fight. These powers came in the form of what will be known, as 'Personas'.
Instantly, those who understood the powers began to gain vast authority, ultimately breaking up the entire city into many factors, or guilds. In Kampar, if you wanted to survive, you needed to be protected, and as such, you needed to be in a guild.

However, guilds did not come easily. Many who owned 'powers' were greedy people, people who preferred to use this power to gain profit and wealth. So in order to join a guild, you had to sell them your soul. This means, you had to give them your name, your life, and your everything. Sad as it sounds, many students had no or little choice. Either they get swallowed by the cruelty of society, or they had to sell themselves like slaves. However, a small group of students with powers defied the entire movement. These people still believed that there is good in society, and that they should remain intact, abide by laws and religion. These people, were known, as The Light. The first guild in Kampar, where entrance was free, that its inhabitants were protected, and thier mission, was to go all out to save the soul of the students. The other guild leaders were of course, furious, and thus began a war between the good and the evil.

Like a twist of fate, students with Personas have different abilities, depending on the 'soul' of the student. A student with courage and will, will probably have a persona that symbolises such courage. However, how much power a student has is limited only to his will and his heart. In 2079, which is the centre of our story, there are 7 large main guilds. These guilds are known as the High 7, 7 guilds that possess the highest and most powerful Persona users. Among them are 2 guilds, one known as The Light, and the other The Fallen; that are the most powerful guilds to date. Legend has it, that the Guildmaster of The Light, has the ability to shift in and out of reality, heal any wound, and sustain any amounts of physical damage. The guildmaster was rarely seen, but in the middle of the night, in a dangerous world such as this, when students needed help the most, she will appear, like a guardian angel. Many students believe in her, and because of her, justice and good still exists. The Fallen's guildmaster is a totally different story. Long ago cast away from society as the weakest students, the fallen star gave one person a totally different ability - the ability of hate. legend has it, that when the guildmaster of The Fallen is angry, the sky splits open and the ground shakes. Also, when he is angered, no one survives to tell the tale.

In every guild, there is a ranking system. The weakest students, were students with no Persona abilities. These were known as 'Lyonas', or lowest classes. They served the higher ranks, and most lived in poverty and fear.

Next, slightly above the Lyonas, were the more enriched Persona users. They had little ability, so are known as 'Demi-Sprites'. Many of these students were either affected by the fallen star's blast, or by the remaining shards and fragments that scattered across the city.

Then comes the top ranks. In a guild there is, of course, the guildmaster, the vice guildmaster, and then the guild is split into many captains, who report directly under the vice guildmaster. Any student with the rank of Captain and above, posses immense Personas. Many have the ability to move mountains and destroy buildings with the click of the finger. many of these students have direct contact with the fallen star. Below the captains are then the leutanents, and after that the seats of power. The seats of power are basically the hierachy used in a guild to show who is next in line to be the next leuntenant or captain. Being the 6th seat, meant that you were the 5th candidate to take the place of the captain, in case the captain steps down. Many students fight to gain the positions and seats, as it not only gave them power, but also the sense of security they need to suvive in such a rough environment.

Back to Personas. Personas can come in many different forms, as mentioned earlier. Some can come in the form of loved ones, animals, gods, demons, ghosts and many many more. The Personas themselves too, have ranks. The Chief is the most powerful of Personas, and yes, most Chief Personas are held by the Guildmasters, giving them immense power. Below the chiefs is a system known as 2357. It means 20 Gods, 300 Vespers, 500 Hollows and 7000 Beasts. Beast personas are the most common, and have common fighting abilites. This power increases as they move up the ladder. However, the difference between the human studetns and Personas, is that a student can never increase the power he or she has, and will remain in thier human shell until they die. But Personas... can evolve. They can be trained, gain experience, and ultimately rise in rank and power. This means that although the students are borned with little or no powers, but as long as they have Personas, they have the ability to increase thier Persona's powers and become more powerful as well. Knowing your Persona is the hardest part. Many have Personas, but the key is knowing how to use your Persona well. A bond is formed between a human student and a Persona as soon as the Persona answers you with its name. From that moment on, it will serve you, fight for you, and keep you safe.
